Wiz Khalifa has added another hobby to his ever-growing list of pursuits – running. The 38-year-old rapper recently shared an Instagram Reel after completing a five-mile run in 45 minutes and 36 seconds, joking (we hope) in the caption: ‘I ripped a bong then ripped 5 miles.’

While the caption grabbed plenty of attention, so did the run itself. Khalifa has only recently taken up running, but his latest effort is a respectable one for a beginner. Here’s how his five-mile time stacks up.

How Fast Is Wiz Khalifa’s 5-Mile Time?

Khalifa’s run works out at an average pace of 9:07 per mile (around 5:40/km). Maintain that pace over 10k and you’d finish in an estimated 56:20 – comfortably under the one-hour mark.

How Does it Compare?

Running Level lists the average recorded five-mile time for male runners at 37:08, with the fastest time on the platform standing at 21:04. That means Khalifa is still some way off experienced runners. But for someone who has only recently taken up the sport, it’s a solid effort.

Earlier this summer, Khalifa revealed he’d ‘started running recently and I love it’ in an Instagram post, sharing multiple runs and documenting his progress. He’s also embraced plenty of habits familiar to seasoned runners, posting about night runs, tracking his pace and distance, and even building a dedicated shoe rotation for lifting and running.

Whether a race bib is next remains to be seen, but if his latest run is anything to go by, Khalifa is making encouraging progress. More importantly, he seems to be enjoying the process – and that’s what keeps most runners coming back for more.
