The Chimes, a later-living housing scheme in Bingley, West Yorkshire, has teamed up with Jim’s Gym to offer tailored wellbeing and exercise support through Anchor’s Be Well 360 programme.

Anchor describes this as a holistic approach to healthy living, providing older adults with tools to maintain mobility, improve sleep, make social connections and pursue creative interests.

Brett Jenkins, wellbeing development manager at Anchor, said: “Supporting residents to stay active is fundamental to overall wellbeing.

“In later life, regular movement plays an important role in maintaining confidence, independence and social connection.

“What stood out about Jim’s Gym was how accessible and engaging it is.

“The platform makes movement feel achievable and enjoyable, while offering flexibility for residents who prefer to take part from home.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the difference it makes, both physically and socially, as part of our Be Well 360 service.”

Jim’s Gym, founded by personal trainer James Hilton, delivers more than 15 live classes each week as well as a wider library of on-demand sessions.

The programme covers strength and balance training, yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Zumba, Dancercise and cardio workouts, with both seated and standing formats to suit all abilities.

Mr Hilton said: “Exercise isn’t just for young people.

“It’s crucial to stay active throughout your whole life, which is why I founded Jim’s Gym.

“It means the world to have an organisation of Anchor’s scale and reputation incorporate the platform into its Be Well 360 service.

“Through the partnership, we’ll reach hundreds of people aged over 55 with inclusive fitness support designed to build confidence and community.”

Residents will also have access to nutrition support and Fitness MOT assessments to support their overall health.

The Chimes offers one and two-bedroom apartments for rent and through Anchor’s shared ownership scheme, aimed at helping people aged 55 and over who may not be able to buy a home outright.

Located in the centre of Bingley, the development features a café, residents’ lounge, landscaped gardens and a hair and beauty salon.
