A Deeside community gym has bought equipment for a new outdoor exercise area aimed at people who would rather not train in a conventional gym.
Number One Deeside, a not-for-profit community interest company, paid for the kit with a £300 donation from housebuilder Ashberry Homes, whose Jubilee Place development is on Welsh Road.
Head coach Ed Harper said: “The new space will provide a welcoming environment and a supportive community for those who don’t see traditional gyms as being for them.
“It will also aim to improve physical and mental wellbeing, build confidence and life skills and offer positive activities that can help reduce antisocial behaviour in our community.”
Number One has been running in Deeside for 10 years and offers free and low-cost exercise and wellbeing sessions across Flintshire and north Wales.
The gym has 153 members and is open from 5am to 10pm every day, the organisation said.
It also has a running club and an Olympic weightlifting club.
Free sessions run with local groups include ones for Andy’s Man Club members, Couch to 5K courses and activities for women and girls.
Mr Harper said the team was “continually looking for new ways to engage people who struggle to access health and wellbeing services”.
Ashberry Homes sales director Jenny Bell said the company was “delighted to support with this donation and bring the new outdoor exercise space to life”.
