Momentum Collective, on Haydock Street, is a popular gym that was founded by BBC Gladiators season two winner, Amanda Wah.
Since winning the show, the 46-year-old continued to run the gym and aims to make fitness more accessible for children and adults.
Now, Amanda will be bringing a growing fitness event to Warrington called Deka Mile, making Momentum Collective is the first Deka certified gym in the area.
The event, which was created by Spartan Race, is regarded as a decathlon of functional fitness and focuses on strength and endurance and follows the success of Hyrox events.
Participants compete across 10 functional fitness zones with 160 meters of running between each one.
The zones include a 500-meter row, 25 medicine ball sit-up throws, and 100-meter farmers carry.
“Fitness racing is clearly having a moment right now,” said Amanda.
“Deka hits the sweet spot between challenge and approachability. You don’t need to be an elite runner to take part – you just need to show up and put in the effort.
“I’m thrilled to bring these inclusive, high-energy events to Warrington, especially as Hyrox continues to skyrocket in popularity – and to offer something that’s sustainably cheaper, and easier to access locally.”
Momentum Collective will host it’s first Deka Mile on October 19 and participants can enter alone for £50 or in a team of two for £60.
Every entrant will receive a limited-edition t-shirt and finisher’s medal.
The gym will run a new Deka event every quarter, open to anyone who wants to give it a try, and are running hybrid-specific training classes in preparation for October’s event.
