Previously, in a clip from the programme, J. T. revealed that “exercise and walking is getting hard” due to the lymphedema mass. He further explained that weight loss actually “makes it worse” as the mass “isn’t tight,” causing it to swing between his legs.
The TLC celebrity visited the park and sat down, confessing he felt “all alone” and “trapped” while dealing with the growth. “I’m having no trouble with my diet, I just need to figure out how to maintain my workout routine. So, I’m going to talk to Dr Now about it and see what can be done, especially the pain because I don’t want to start going backwards.”
J.T. suffered from a medical issue
J. T expressed that he had “given up so much to get to this point” and that his weight and the lump have been holding him back”. Fortunately, he is “staying on track,” although he is starting to struggle with exercise.”
The official TLC Instagram account posted a snippet of J. T. on their page, sparking discussion among their 2 million followers about his condition. In the caption, TLC penned: “J.T. is losing weight but the 100lb lymphedema on his leg is slowing down his progress. Will Dr Now approve removal? Don’t miss the season finale of #My600lbLife: Where Are They Now, Wednesday at 8/7c.”
In the comments section, TLC fans congregated to discuss J. T.’s situation, with one individual remarking: “Such a handsome young man plagued by this illness.”
Some queried “what happened to him” while others noted that the growth “has to be so difficult to walk around with”.
“Bless you. Don’t give up. You will get help soon, push through,” penned another TLC enthusiast, while another observed that the lymphedema “must weigh more than him”. A number of supportive fans left red heart emojis in the comments.
“Poor chap, must be tough losing [weight] but that lymphatic issue is slowing him down,” read another comment. One person even suggested “tying it up to help alleviate the pain” as more individuals encouraged him to “keep going”.
The star now keeps a low profile
Fortunately for JT, his weight-loss transformation carried on beyond the programme.
He has also been candid about battling depression on social media. While he keeps a fairly quiet public profile, he sporadically shared updates on Facebook for several years, offering followers insights into his world, such as disclosing that he entered a relationship in February 2024.
As of June 2026, JT’s digital footprint has lessened, but his final appearance on TLC in 2024 showcased some remarkable outcomes for his weight reduction.
Throughout the years, JT shed over 600 pounds, establishing his transformation as one of Dr. Now’s most triumphant television success stories. It is also understood his mass battle is now under control.
