RAF Mildenhall is primarily used by the United States Air Force and is home to the 100th Air Refueling Wing and 352nd Special Operations Wing.
The units support US military operations across Europe and neighbouring regions, with the Suffolk base used for air-to-air refuelling and special operations.
Earlier this year, aircraft involved in Exercise Point Blank took off from RAF Mildenhall during a training event focused on “the collective defence of the European region”.
The 100th Air Refueling Wing supported the exercise by refuelling the 48th Fighter Wing’s F-15E Strike Eagle and F-35 Lightning II aircraft during operations.
