Career tech classes

Registration for the 2026-27 school year at the Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) center was set to open on Tuesday, Jan.  20.

Nearly 1,500 students in grades 10-12 from over 45 schools in Santa Clara County participate each year, gaining opportunities to earn college credit; score industry certifications; gain real-world experience through internships, pre-apprenticeship and projects; and advance skills for higher education or careers after graduation.

SVCTE is open to students in Santa Clara County, and transportation is free for students to and from schools in the Campbell Union High School District. Students register through their home high school counselor to enroll.

New courses this term include an AI engineering course and a pre-apprenticeship in metals technology.

Students in the former course will design intelligent systems, apply Python coding and use machine learning to solve real-world challenges.

Students enrolled in the metals technology course will have access to a newly approved Field Ironworkers Pre-Apprenticeship program, authorized by the California Division of Apprenticeship Standards.
