More than one tipster let us know that the longstanding, family-owned bakery It’s All Good has shuttered. Signs on the door and in the window read: “We are permanently closed. Thank you for 30 years of support!” All of the windows have been covered with brown paper.

The bakery was founded by Kim Cloud in 1996, operating for three decades, and was located at the site of The Black Panthers’ first Oakland headquarters. Cloud proudly displayed Black Panther memorabilia in the bakery.

In 2022, a project to redevelop the building into apartments and commercial space was announced. According to city of Oakland records, in April 2025 the Planning and Zoning Division emailed the project’s architectural firm, Gunkel Architecture, to say the project application was incomplete and a focused environmental impact report was required, including more information for the Historic Resource Evaluation regarding the property’s significance in establishment of the Black Panther Party.

It’s All Good was known for serving an array of decadent treats, including sweet potato and pecan pies, peach cobblers, snickerdoodles and banana pudding. It’s All Good was located at 5622 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. (at Aileen st.) in Oakland.
