SAN JOSE – Firefighters on Friday night battled a three-alarm blaze in San Jose, authorities said.

The fire broke out just before 5 p.m. at a vacant two-story structure in the 1700 block of Saratoga Avenue, near the Westgate Center, according to the San Jose Fire Department.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

In an update around 8:40 p.m., the fire department said the blaze had been knocked down. Crews were expected to remain at the scene for fire watch until 8 a.m. Saturday.

Saratoga Avenue was closed in both directions between Prospect Road and Lawrence Expressway, and Lawrence Expressway was shut down at Saratoga Avenue.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
