SAN JOSE — An advanced manufacturing company has decided to shut its doors at a San Jose site where a tech and data hub is being planned by a real estate firm with a global reach.

Lumileds is closing its production and office center on a north San Jose property that is part of a 45.8-acre north San Jose property and future development site at 350 and 370 West Trimble Road.

The shutdown of the Lumileds site will erase 24 jobs, according to a WARN notice the company filed with the state Employment Development Department.

The job cuts and closure are scheduled for May 1, the WARN notice states.

Lumileds has now disclosed decisions to eliminate 84 jobs this year at the 370 West Trimble site. On Jan. 30, Lumileds cut 60 jobs at the location, a prior WARN notice stated.

The job cuts are slated to be permanent, according to Lumileds.

At one point, Lumileds stated it was attempting a rare feat, operating a manufacturing center in the Bay Area.

The company had manufactured LEDs, or light-emitting diodes, at the north San Jose site. The company also produces other lighting devices and items for automotive, general lighting, and specialty lighting applications.

Now, an advanced innovation and data hub will replace the former Lumileds manufacturing site.
