Dates have been set for the Olympic soccer matches to be held at San Jose’s PayPal Park during the 2028 Games.
The venue that Olympic organizers are calling “San José Stadium” — no sponsor names are allowed — will host seven matches: women’s group-stage games on July 11, 14 and 17 and a quarter-final on July 21, said the announcement Monday, March 16, by the Olympic committee.
Matches will also be played in New York, Columbus, Nashville, St. Louis and San Diego, and the tournament will conclude with men’s and women’s semi-finals and gold medal matches at the Rose Bowl, in Pasadena.
The complete tournament schedule, including kickoff times and match pairings, will be finalized this year.
Wednesday, March 18, is the deadline to register for the chance to buy tickets for Olympics events during “Drop 1,” in April. Those who sign up will automatically be entered in the draw for subsequent drops until they hit the ticket maximum.
The 2028 Olympics will run from July 14-30 (plus some preliminary competitions), with most events in the Los Angeles area.
