A man was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of fatally shooting his wife inside their San Jose home, authorities said Monday.
Officers responded about 6 p.m. Friday to multiple reports of a shooting at a residence on the 400 block of Don Seville Court, according to the San Jose Police Department. While en route, officers learned the suspect had allegedly shot his wife inside the home.
Police said officers encountered the man as he exited the residence and took him into custody without incident. Inside, officers found an adult woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Officers began life-saving measures before paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital where she later died, police said.
The suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of homicide. Authorities have not released his name. The identity of the woman is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
The killing marks San Jose’s seventh homicide of 2026, police said. The department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the case, and officials said the motive and circumstances remain under investigation.
Authorities did not disclose whether there had been prior calls for service at the residence or whether the suspect and victim had a documented history of domestic violence.
