SANTA CLARA — Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in investigating the death of a man found in San Tomas Aquino Creek last month.

The man, identified as Thomas Simpkins, a 44-year-old resident of Sunnyvale, was found floating face down in the creek on Feb. 14. He was last spotted around 1 a.m. on Feb. 9, according to a news release from the Santa Clara Police Department.

Authorities are seeking surveillance footage from the area to help assist in their investigation of his death.

When he was spotted again around 1 a.m., he was in the area of Homestead Road and Los Olivos Drive, authorities added.

Officers responded to the creek, located south of Tasman Drive, on Feb. 14 around 2:30 p.m. for reports of a possible body, authorities said. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner identified the decedent as Simpkins.
