A growing interest

The San Jose Garden Club is holding its annual spring plant sale and garden boutique April 24-25 to raise money for various local charities.

The sale offers plants grown by club members and includes a garden boutique featuring a variety of yard art, pottery and other garden-themed gifts.

The club is an all-volunteer nonprofit that was founded in 1972 to address local food insecurity, promote the study of horticulture and landscape design and participate in civic beautification projects.

To that end, all proceeds from the plant sale will benefit Sacred Heart’s La Mesa Verde Garden Program, Our City Forest, Loaves and Fishes Kitchen Garden, Lean/Calero Rose Project, Valley Verde, Sempervirens-Big Basin, Garden2Table, Second Harvest Silicon Valley and Second Harvest Santa Cruz.

The plant sale and garden boutique will be held Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., at 2470 Richland Ave., San Jose. The club accepts cash, credit cards and Venmo. For more information, visit sanjosegardenclub.com.
