 Cars for careers

The Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) center is hosting its 20th annual Bob McTaggart Custom and Classic Car Show on Friday, May 1, 5-8 p.m., at the Metropolitan Education District, 760 Hillsdale Ave. in San Jose.

Each year, the event attracts hundreds of attendees who come to admire a wide variety of custom and classic vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, trucks and bikes.

The show supports SVCTE’s SkillsUSA chapter, a Career Technical Student Organization that helps students develop hands-on skills and leadership experience in preparation for careers in automotive technology and related industries. Previous shows have raised over $10,000 to support student competitions and educational resources.

In addition to showcasing vehicles, the evening also features raffles, prizes, live music by Cold Storage and food prepared by SVCTE’s Culinary Arts students.

Admission is free for spectators. Vehicle registration is $25 per entry; Pre-register by April 24 via Venmo @MetroED760 (write “Car Show” in “What’s this for?”) or grab your tickets at the gate, opening at 4:30 p.m. the day of the show. For more information, visit https://bit.ly/41waBbk.
