Crews halt forward progress of fire burning in South San Jose

SAN JOSE – Crews on Wednesday afternoon were battling a grass fire in South San Jose.

The blaze, dubbed the Curry Fire, broke out in the area of Bernal Road and Heaton Moore Drive, according to Cal Fire. Firefighters with the Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit and the San Jose Fire Department are at the scene.

In an update just before 7 p.m., Cal Fire said crews had halted the fire’s forward progress.

The fire has consumed 25 acres and is 30 percent contained, according to Cal Fire.
