T&T Supermarket, the Canadian Asian grocery chain known for its prepared foods, bakery counters and deep selection of Asian groceries, will open its first California store next month in the Bay Area.
The company said the store will open June 18 at Westgate Center, at 1600 Saratoga Ave. in San Jose. Opening festivities are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., with doors opening to the public at 9 a.m.
The Silicon Valley market is the first of three Bay Area stores announced by T&T, a major chain that has been pushing into the United States. The company has also said it plans to open locations at San Francisco’s City Center on Geary Boulevard near Masonic Avenue and at Friendship Plaza in Millbrae. Both are expected in winter 2026.
For Bay Area shoppers, the opening adds another big-name Asian grocer to an increasingly crowded and competitive market.
H Mart, Tokyo Central, Osaka Marketplace and other specialty markets have also been expanding or preparing new locations around the region, reflecting the area’s strong demand for Asian groceries and food-hall-style shopping.
T&T said the San Jose store will carry thousands of items across Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Southeast Asian and other Asian cuisines. The company’s private-label products include pork soup dumplings, green onion pancakes, kalbi sauces and Taiwanese-style sausage.
“San Jose is a long-anticipated store,” Tina Lee, the company’s CEO, said in a statement. “We’re bringing more than just exciting, high-quality foods. We’re exporting a new way of life from Canada: one that’s deeply food-centric, celebratory, rich in tradition and fresh-obsessed.”
Lee said the company aims to help Asian families stay connected to the foods and traditions they grew up with, while also becoming “a destination for Asian food discovery for everyone.”
Ahead of the opening, T&T is offering early sign-ups for its free membership program through its app. The company also plans pop-ups at Santana Row on June 6-7 and June 13-14, with snacks, games and giveaways.
T&T was founded in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1993 and is headquartered in nearby Richmond. It opened its first U.S. store in Bellevue, Wash., in 2024.
