Symphonic World Cup
The World Cup is coming to San Jose. No, not that one, although Six FIFA World Cup matches are set to be played at Levi’s Stadium this month.
In anticipation of this sporting event, Symphony San Jose is presenting a Symphonic World Cup on June 6-7 at the California Theatre in downtown San Jose, featuring works by some star international composers.
The final concert of the symphony’s 2025-26 season features its first performance of a work by Denmark’s most prominent composer, Carl Nielsen, who recounts the ancient myth of the god of the sun in “Helios Overture.” Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera’s Harp Concerto will be performed by guest artist Katherine Siochi. Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, written as a defiant protest against Stalin’s regime, closes the program.
The concerts are set for Saturday, June 6, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 7 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $24-$121.50 at 408-286-2600 or www.symphonysanjose.org.
The Row Cup
Santana Row is gearing up for The Row Cup in celebration of the FIFA World Cup. From June 11-July 19, the Row Cup will feature exclusive restaurant menus, themed cocktails, live DJs and game day happy hours. Fans can get official FIFA World Cup merchandise at the FIFA Pop-Up Shop.
More than 15 restaurants on The Row will host watch parties, and for those who want to party hop, grab to-go drinks will be served at Vintage Wine Bar, Augustine, Left Bank, Dumpling Time, EMC Seafood, El Jardin, Zazil and Momosan.
