E-waste recycling
Cancer CAREpoint is holding an e-waste drop-off event June 16-17, from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.at the nonprofit’s offices, located at 2512 Samaritan Court, Ste. A, in San Jose.
Home and office items such as laptops, desktops, servers, network switches, printers, modems and cell phones, can be dropped off for repurposing by M&M Technologies, which is tasked with securely erasing data, destroying hard drives and recycling electronics. Household appliances such as microwaves and toaster ovens cannot be accepted.
All proceeds from the event benefit Cancer CAREpoint, which provides support services for Bay Area cancer patients and survivors, as well as their families and caregivers.

ROSE GARDEN>>Playful People Productions is opening registration this month for its remaining shows in 2026.
This summer, the San Jose theater company will begin work on “Shrek The Musical JR.” Auditions for young performers ages 5-12 are set for Aug. 3-7, rehearsals start Aug. 10 and performances are Sept. 25-Oct. 4. Registration is now open.
Registration opens June 7 for a musical production of “Winnie the Pooh” for home-schooled children ages 5-12, written by Playful People Artistic Director Katie D’Arcey. Auditions will be held on Aug. 24, and performances are Oct. 30-Nov. 1.
The company is not yet divulging the title of its fall musical, but people ages 18 and up who are interested in auditioning can call 408-878-5362 for more information. Auditions are Aug. 3-6, rehearsals start Aug. 17 and performances are Nov. 7-15.
Registration for each of the three shows is $600 at https://www.playfulpeople.org/registration. All rehearsals and performances will be at the Historic Hoover Theatre, 1635 Park Ave.
