SAN JOSE — More than fuel was pumped out at a gas station here Wednesday night as someone purchased a lottery ticket worth $781,679, officials said.
The unidentified player was the only one statewide to pick the five Powerball game numbers, which were 2, 6, 26, 39 and 68. Had they picked the power number, which was 6, they would have won the $325 million jackpot — which no one did.
The ticket was sold at the Shell Station, 101 Bernal Rd., in Bernal Plaza.
The station manager, Melissa Morales, said in a phone interview she was not aware the winning ticket had been sold there and had no idea who bought the ticket. But nonetheless she said “I’m happy for them, I’m excited for them.”
The winner has 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their prize.
Powerball is played every Wednesday and Saturday night and there have been no jackpot winners for weeks. Saturday night’s minimum jackpot will be at least $396 million.
