SAN JOSE — Police arrested a man arrested July 2 for allegedly installing a secret camera in the bathroom of a downtown coffee shop, authorities said.
The 38-year-old man, a resident of San Jose, was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of invasion of privacy, according to a news release Thursday from the San Jose Police Department.
Around 9:30 a.m. June 9, an employee noticed a hidden camera in the public restroom of the coffee shop, which is located on the 100 block of East Santa Clara Street, and reported it to police, authorities said.
SJPD’s Sexual Assaults Investigation Unit carried out an investigation which found that the camera was installed by an adult man earlier that morning and identified the suspect with the assistance of SJPD’s Real Time Intelligence Center and Automatic License Plate Reader cameras, authorities said.
Police then obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, authorities added.
