On the ball
Dr. Lindsay Bell will walk attendees through “The History of Baseball, America’s Favorite Pastime” at the July 31 History Happy Hour at the Ainsley House. Bell, an historian, will explain how the game became a symbol of the nation’s identity and earned its place as America’s pastime.
The event is set for 5:30 p.m. at 300 Grant St., Campbell. Tickets are $25 and up at bit.ly/3RnChh2.
Library outreach
Beginning in August, a community outreach specialist (COS) will be available at the Campbell Library every Monday-Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The COS can provide information, referrals and support related to housing, food assistance, healthcare and other community resources.
Patrons are invited to meet the new COS on Aug. 3, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., or Aug. 4 and 5, 10 a.m.-noon, at drop-in events at the library’s information table. No registration is required.

Friends book sale
The Friends of the Campbell Library are holding a used book sale on Saturday, Aug. 8, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., in the library’s community room.
Items for sale include puzzles, games, hardback fiction books, children’s books, romances, thrillers, audio books, DVDs, CDs and a variety of “how to” books. Patrons should bring a bag for purchases. Cash, check, Zelle, card or Venmo will be accepted.
