SAN JOSE — A pedestrian who was hit by a driver last week in San Jose died from his injuries over the weekend, police said.
The incident happened around 12:05 p.m. on Aug. 4 at the intersection of Tully Road and Lucretia Avenue, San Jose police Sgt. Tony Diep said in a news release Tuesday.
Diep said an initial investigation revealed a man was crossing Lucretia Avenue in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a 2019 Nissan Sentra making a right turn onto the street from westbound Tully Road.
The driver, a woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The pedestrian, meanwhile, was rushed to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, Diep said. He was later stabilized but ultimately died from his injuries Sunday.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.
The incident marked the city’s 14th pedestrian death and 28th overall traffic fatality of 2026.
