SAN JOSE — A pedestrian died Wednesday from injuries he suffered the previous week in San Jose when he was hit by a driver, police said.
The incident happened at 10:12 a.m. on Aug. 13 near the intersection of Blossom Hill Road and Thornwood Drive, San Jose police Officer Tanya Hernandez said in a news release.
An initial investigation revealed the pedestrian was crossing Blossom Hill Road just west of Thornwood Drive when he was struck by a man driving a 2005 Acura SUV eastbound, Hernandez said.
The pedestrian, identified as a man, was taken to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release his identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.
The driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, Hernandez said.
The incident marked the city’s 15th pedestrian death and 29th overall traffic fatality of 2026. At this point last year, police had investigated 21 traffic fatalities on city streets.
