MILPITAS — A 32-year-old woman was arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision Friday in Milpitas, police said.
The collision was reported just after 12 p.m. in the parking lot of the Mill Creek Apartments, located at 440 Dixon Landing Road, according to the Milpitas Police Department. Witnesses reported seeing a blue SUV leaving the area immediately following the collision.
Officers arrived to find a 35-year-old woman suffering from “significant injuries,” police said. She died at the scene.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the woman’s identity after it is confirmed and her next of kin is notified.
Officers searched the area and found the suspect vehicle in a nearby parking lot, police said.
“The vehicle had significant damage consistent with being involved in a collision,” police said in a news release, adding that the driver, a Milpitas resident, was taken into custody.
The collision is under investigation, police said.
