Authorities have identified the two people who died in a fiery wrong-way crash in Santa Clara last week.

The two people killed were identified as 39-year-old Keith Demarest and 58-year-old Stephen Hinkson, a resident of San Carlos, according to the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities did not know Demarest’s city of residence.

The incident occurred just before noon on Aug. 26 when a man drove his GMC SUV in the wrong direction on northbound Montague Expressway. He collided with a silver Honda pickup truck that was traveling in the northbound direction. Authorities have not specified which of the two people killed was the wrong-way driver.

The SUV became fully engulfed in flames and was extinguished by the Santa Clara Fire Department.

Both victims died at the scene of the collision.
