A man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly shooting at two juveniles after asking their gang affiliation, striking one of them, San Jose authorities said.
Jose Ortiz-Buenrostro, a 32-year-old resident of San Jose, was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
Around 3:10 p.m. on Dec. 6, officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 1100 block of South Capitol Avenue, authorities said. Ortiz-Buenrostro asked two juvenile boys for their gang affiliation, then pulled out a firearm and shot at the victims.
One victim was struck by a bullet and was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The second victim was unharmed after a bullet hit his clothing, authorities said.
The suspect then fled the scene, authorities added.
Through the investigation, conducted by the Gang Investigations Unit, detectives found the suspect vehicle and identified the suspect, authorities said.
Ortiz-Buenrostro was arrested in San Jose, authorities said. Authorities also executed a search warrant at his residence and uncovered the suspect firearm, as well as clothes worn during the alleged shooting and other gang indicia.
