Police were called at about 3:50 p.m. to reports of a fight involving several juveniles near the 240 block of Vienna Drive, according to the Milpitas Police Department. Officers arrived within minutes and found a 17-year-old male with apparent stab wounds.

Officers began providing aid until paramedics arrived. The teen was taken to a hospital, where he later died, police said.

A second victim suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening and has since been treated and released.

A 17-year-old male suspect remained at the scene and was taken into custody without incident, authorities said. He was later booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of homicide and assault with a deadly weapon.

Because those involved were minors, police have not released their names.

Investigators said the violence appears to have been an isolated incident and that there was no ongoing threat to the public.

Authorities said they are not releasing additional details while the investigation is active.

Police offered condolences to the victim’s family and urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to come forward.
