Taking a quiz

Two Milpitas students are among 300 players set to compete in the National Academic Quiz Tournaments’ Individual Player National Championship Tournament on Sunday, April 11, in Rosemont, Ill.

This quiz bowl event—the eighth championship of its kind—is an individual competition, whereas most quiz bowls are for teams of students. The Milpitas students competing are Atharv Aravind Rao from Merryhill School and Stavya Dangaria from Milpitas High School.

Tournament results will be updated throughout the day at http://www.naqt.com/go/stats/17105.

Sticking the vote

The Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters’ Office invites students from across the county to create “I Voted” stickers for submission to its design contest. The winning designs will be distributed to all voters in the Nov. 3 general election.

Submissions are being accepted in three categories, from students in grades K-8, high school students, and college and trade school students.

Entrants may submit their artwork entirely online, mail in their design or drop it off at the Registrar’s office. Full instructions, design rules and the official sticker template are available at sccvote.org/sticker, where participants can also upload their submissions through April 30.

Registrar staff will review all entries and select finalists in each category. These finalists will be posted for public online voting in late May through early June. Winners are expected to be announced in late June.
