A man was struck and killed by a motorist in San Jose Friday morning, marking the city’s 17th traffic-related death of the year, police said. 

The collision happened at about 9:17 a.m. in the 1400 block of Mabury Road, according to the San Jose Police Department. Authorities said a juvenile female driving westbound in a 2014 white Infiniti sedan plowed into a man as he crossed the street in a crosswalk.

Medical personnel pronounced the pedestrian dead on the roadway. His name has not yet been released. 

Police said the driver remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators. The crash marks the eighth pedestrian fatality of the year.
