SAN JOSE – A child was hospitalized after suffering a medical emergency Wednesday morning in San Jose, police said.

The incident happened just before 10 a.m., according to the San Jose Police Department.

Police said the child was taken to an area hospital. No other details were released.

“The investigation is active and ongoing,” a police spokesperson said in an email to this news organization.

According to KTVU, the medical emergency was reported in the 1200 block of Lancelot Lane. The San Jose Fire Department told the station the child had life-threatening injuries.

A large police presence remained at the scene more than seven hours after the initial call, KTVU reported. A news crew also witnessed at least four children at or around a home. They were loaded into vehicles and driven away, according to the station.

Several marked County of Santa Clara vehicles were at the scene, KTVU reported, and one of them may have been involved in the transport of the children.
