SAN JOSE — Firefighters were responding to a vegetation fire Tuesday afternoon near Los Lagos Golf Course, authorities said.
The fire broke out on the 3100 block of Locke Drive, according to a social media post from the San Jose Fire Department.
The blaze, which was called in at 3:14 p.m., began with a tier one response at the size of one acre and was upgraded to a a tier two response shortly before 3:45 p.m., authorities said.
The fire was moving at a moderate rate of spread and was threatening structures, authorities added. Some firefighting units have been assigned to structure protection.
Firefighters stopped the fire’s forward progress by 4:30 p.m. Danger to structures was mitigated around 4:15 p.m.
Authorities added that nearby traffic is impacted and asked people to avoid the area.
