SAN JOSE — A major real estate firm acquired a South San Jose property that consists of empty land where a job-creating manufacturing and industrial operation could be built.
Prologis Logistics Services, a unit of Prologis, paid $14 million for a vacant site at 455 Piercy Rd., documents filed on June 25 with the Santa Clara County Recorder’s Office show. InSite Property Group was the seller.
In 2022, city officials gave final approval to a project at the 14.2-acre site that would include a building that totals roughly 126,500 square feet, according to planning documents. Light manufacturing operations could be conducted there.
The development permit is slated to expire by the end of the year, but the new owner could apply to extend it, according to a city planner.
An estimated 80 full-time employees could work in the building once operational, city documents show.
The recently purchased site is in the vicinity of multiple development projects poised to create industrial or advanced manufacturing hubs.
