Music in the Courtyard
The Cambrian Quintet is set to perform July 12 as part of the Cupertino Library’s Summer Music in the Courtyard series.
The woodwind quintet—featuring flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and French horn—has a repertoire that blends light classical favorites by composers like Mozart and Debussy with iconic themes from film scores.
The fourth annual Summer Music in the Courtyard series is an all-ages event featuring live music from a variety of genres every Sunday afternoon from 3-4 p.m. As the name suggests, the free concerts are held in the library’s outdoor courtyard. Next in the lineup is Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band on July 19.
Caring leaders
Sandy Chen Stokes, founder of the Chinese American Coalition for Compassionate Care (CACCC), has stepped down as executive director after 15 years at the helm of the Cupertino-based organization.
CACCC appointed two board members as co-executive directors to its executive leadership team: Alex Tsao, PhD and Cynthia X. Pan, MD.
In a volunteer capacity, Tsao and Pan will lead and support the coalition’s mission to build a community in which Chinese Americans are able to face the end of life with dignity and respect, as well as oversee the coalition’s services and programs through collaborations and partnerships with community-based organizations serving the Chinese American community.
Stokes will serve as senior advisor to the CACCC leadership team and board.
