MORGAN HILL — Archer Aviation struck a deal to lease about a half-million square feet of tech and industrial space in Morgan Hill, marking a wide-ranging expansion for the maker of air taxis.
The company leased roughly 501,300 square feet during the first week of July in a business hub known as Cochrane Technology Center, several sources with knowledge of the rental transaction told this news organization.
The campus is near the interchange of U.S. Highway 101 and Cochrane Road. It is owned by an affiliate of Trammell Crow, Santa Clara County real estate files show.
The San Jose-based electric taxi maker took all five buildings, according to sources, with addresses of 18105, 18145, 18185, 18225, and 18265 De Paul Dr.
Trammell Crow completed construction of Cochrane Technology Park in October 2024, but hadn’t found a tenant until the Archer deal was concluded in early July.
It wasn’t immediately clear when Archer Aviation might move into the buildings.
The deal fits a pattern of expansion by Archer Aviation, which has widened its footprint in recent years, including multiple leases of office space in North San Jose.
During the one-year period that ended in March, the company produced $1.9 million in revenue but lost $742.5 million.
Archer Aviation hopes to generate significant increases in revenue starting as soon as this year.
“We made tremendous progress towards beginning operations in the U.S. later this year,” Archer Aviation’s chief executive officer Adam Goldstein stated in May regarding the company’s January-through-March first quarter.
The tech company also stated in May that it aims to push beyond the air taxi sector.
“Archer is far more than an air taxi company,” Goldstein said. “Our defense and AI software efforts are advancing quickly, and they’re opening up an even bigger future for us. We’re investing and building accordingly.”
