Interpreting nature
The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority is holding an interpretive host training on Aug. 29, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Tilton Ranch Complex in Morgan Hill for volunteers ages 18 and older.
Participants will learn how to use interpretive techniques to engage visitors to the authority’s open space preserves. The training will also cover the authority’s mission and resources.
This training is a qualification for representing the authority as a community outreach volunteer, supporting large-scale public events such as open access events as a preserve steward, or for participating in trail patrol. This training is also required for volunteers who want to help out as a part of the habitat protection team at Máyyan ‘Ooyákma.
If weather is uncooperative, the training will be moved to the authority’s offices at 33 Las Colinas Lane in San Jose.
Register before Aug. 25 at https://bit.ly/4gG0AQX. After Aug. 25, email Jeanette at jmayorga@openspaceauthority.org to sign up.
