A healthy investment
Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) has received a $500,000 first-year investment from Sutter Health as part of a three-year partnership to strengthen healthcare career pathways and expand opportunities for students to connect classroom learning with real-world careers.
Sutter Health has committed an additional $250,000 for the second year of the partnership, with third-year funding to be determined based on program needs.
The first-year investment will support approximately 250 students across five SVCTE healthcare pathways: two Medical Assisting courses, Medical Science/Health Careers, Nursing Careers and Sports Medicine & Kinesiology. Funding will support updated equipment and curriculum, career-connected learning opportunities, student mentorship and expanded work-based learning experiences designed to prepare students for future careers in healthcare.
“I am extraordinarily pleased that Sutter Health recognizes the value of partnering with SVCTE and investing in young people who are launching their careers in health,” said MetroED Governing Board President and Campbell Union High School District Board Trustee Linda Goytia.
Turn-it-in teal
Santa Clara County residents of all ages are invited to walk or swim into a Santa Clara County Library District location, including the Cupertino Library, during September to pick up one of two new limited San Jose Sharks library cards. The library cards feature the San Jose Sharks brand-new “Turn it All Teal” designs.
To mark this occasion a special storytime was planned at the Cupertino Library at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, featuring a surprise San Jose Sharks guest.
