Humane Society Silicon Valley will provide 100 free on-site vaccines at Bark in the Park on Sept. 19 at William Street Park in San Jose. The annual event, set for 10 a.m.-5 p.m., features dog contests, demonstrations, Animal Rescue Row, shopping, food and drinks and family activities

Later in the month, the Humane Society is offering free spay and neuter surgeries for cats, kittens and dogs under 25lbs.—including family pets, shelter animals, and foster pets in need—at Champions for Pet Health. The event is set for Sept. 27 at 3463 McKee Road in San Jose.

Turn-it-in teal
Santa Clara County residents of all ages are invited to walk or swim into a Santa Clara County Library District location, including the Milpitas Library, during September to pick up one of two new limited San Jose Sharks library cards. The library cards feature the San Jose Sharks brand-new “Turn it All Teal” designs.

A healthy investment
Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) has received a $500,000 first-year investment from Sutter Health as part of a three-year partnership to strengthen healthcare career pathways and expand opportunities for students to connect classroom learning with real-world careers. Sutter Health has committed an additional $250,000 for the second year of the partnership, with third-year funding to be determined based on program needs.
The first-year investment will support approximately 250 students across five SVCTE healthcare pathways. Funding will support updated equipment and curriculum, career-connected learning opportunities, student mentorship and expanded work-based learning experiences.
