Hashi Market, a Japanese grocery chain described as part supermarket and part department store, will open its first West Coast location on Friday, Oct. 9, in Cupertino.
The site is a former Sprouts market in the Crossroads Center at Stevens Creek Boulevard and South De Anza Boulevard.
The New York-based Hashi stores feature a sushi counter, matcha drinks and snacks, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables. The stores also offer skincare products and kitchen appliances as part of its “mini department store” concept.
The chain currently has six stores in New York City, and is exploring options at other Bay Area market sites in Milpitas, San Mateo and Union City, as well as in Colorado and Massachusetts. About 10 new stores are expected to open in the coming months.
