SAN JOSE — Samsung Semiconductor has added to its San Jose footprint with the purchase of another office building near the tech titan’s regional Silicon Valley headquarters.

The just-completed purchase marks Samsung’s second purchase in roughly 20 months of office sites near and next to the tech company’s campus at North First Street and West Tasman Drive in North San Jose.

In the latest deal, Samsung paid $29.5 million in cash to buy a research and office building at 3775 North First Street in North San Jose, a public document filing on Oct. 15 shows.

The building totals 68,000 square feet and occupies 4.6 acres, according to marketing materials circulated by CBRE, a commercial real estate firm.

In February 2025, Samsung paid $27 million to buy a building at 3725 North First, totaling 70,700 square feet on a 5.2-acre parcel. Apple sold that building to Samsung.

“The deal shows Samsung’s confidence in Silicon Valley,” said David Sandlin, an executive vice president with Colliers, a commercial real estate firm. “This also shows the strength of the North San Jose office market.”

In 2018, the seller in the latest deal, Sacramento-based real estate firm SVP Management, paid $18.2 million for the 3775 North First building. That suggests a 60% increase in the building’s value in eight years.

On the surface, Samsung’s two deals on North First give the tech company ownership of an additional 138,700 square feet, spaces large enough to possibly accommodate a combined 500 to 700 workers.

The transactions, though, also give Samsung control of an additional 9.8 acres of land next to its campus at 3655 North First. A parcel that size would be large enough for a significant redevelopment.

“It’s positive news that Samsung is growing in North San Jose,” Sandlin said.
