SAN JOSE — Two teenage boys were arrested last week in connection with a robbery over the summer in East San Jose, authorities said.

The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. on July 30, San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih said in a news release.

The victim saw a suspect break into his vehicle and went to confront him, Shih said, adding that the suspect in turn brandished a firearm and pistol-whipped the victim.

Shih said the suspect then stole items from the victim’s vehicle and left the area in a vehicle driven by another suspect.

The victim was treated at the scene for his injuries.

Using automated license plate reader technology, detectives identified the suspect vehicle, which was discovered to have been stolen, Shih said. The suspects were also identified as a 17-year-old resident of Castro Valley and a 16-year-old resident of Oakland.

On Oct. 14, both boys were arrested on suspicion of robbery and booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall.

Shih said detectives searched the homes of the suspects and found evidence related to the crime.
