The Carson community rang in the holiday season with their annual tree lighting ceremony on Thursday evening, Dec. 4.
Residents filled the Carson Event Center in anticipation of the tree lighting. While they waited, the Enrichment Modern Dance Group and The Holiday Carolers performed for the crowd. There was also a craft station where attendees could make ornaments and write letters to Santa.
Santa himself even made an appearance, addressing the crowd, taking photos with families and hearing children’s Christmas wishes.
“The Tree Lighting Ceremony officially kicks off our Holiday Season in Carson,” Carson Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes said in a written statement. “It is a magical moment as the tree is illuminated; but the true magic is the light that lives in each member of our community. Our residents are what makes this city truly shine.”
Davis-Holmes, with the help of Santa, lit the tree — which will stay in the Carson Event Center throughout the holiday season — to the cheers of all those in attendance.
