A Brooklyn-born pizza tradition is giving back once again. Grimaldi’s Pizzeria is marking its 14th consecutive year partnering with No Kid Hungry, bringing its annual September fundraiser back to help combat childhood hunger after raising more than $1.4 million for the organization since 2013.

Throughout September, customers at Grimaldi’s locations nationwide can donate to No Kid Hungry in participating restaurants. Those who contribute will receive a promotional card that can be used during a future visit.

The cards will be offered in $5 increments, up to a maximum of $25 per visit. Donations must be made inside the restaurant to qualify for the promotion.

According to Grimaldi’s, every dollar donated can provide up to ten meals for children facing hunger through programs supported by No Kid Hungry. Donations help fund programs that provide food to children rather than directly supplying individual meals, the organization notes.

“As childhood hunger continues to affect families across the country, we are proud to continue our partnership with No Kid Hungry for a 14th year,” said Grimaldi’s COO Michael Flaum, in a statement. “This campaign reflects our belief that every child deserves access to meals, and we are grateful to our guests for joining us in supporting programs that help make a meaningful difference in the communities we serve.”

Now a nationwide chaim, Grimaldi’s got its start in Brooklyn, where founder Patsy Grimaldi started his own pizzeria in 1990 after decades of learning from the best pizzaolos in New York City. The pizzeria is known for its coal-fired, brick-oven pies, which they say stand out from pies baked in conventional ovens.
