Former Plattsburgh Town Supervisor Michael Cashman is set to be sworn into the New York State Assembly on Thursday morning. Cashman won the Special Election for New York’s 115th Assembly District seat earlier this month. Cashman takes over the seat vacated by former Assemblyman Billy Jones, who stepped down to take a job at Clinton Community College. The 115th District covers all of Clinton and Franklin counties and parts of Essex County.Cashman won the race with just over 51% of the vote, defeating Republican Brent Davison. He’s being sworn in at the state capitol in Albany, officially beginning his first term in the state assembly.Cashman said his first priority is setting up his district office and staff, so he can get to work on affordability, public safety, and opportunities for the next generation in the north country.
