Reforming Pilates Opening Biggest New York Studio

A Pilates studio is taking over a three-story, 7,000-square-foot former carriage house at 109 West 17th Street, just off Sixth Avenue. The Miami-based chain Reforming Pilates expects the space, its second in the city, to open in June, and, per the New York Post, it will “likely” be the largest Pilates studio in the world. How does one quantify that? Who knows. “I had no idea going into it that we were opening the biggest studio,” owner Genevieve Ross told the Post.

Ross and her husband signed a ten-year lease on the space, and the studio, which includes original fireplaces and other details, will be aptly called the Reforming Pilates Townhouse. It has been remodeled in a color scheme that can only be described as Miami beige (think boat shoes). Classes go for $50 each, and there will be two separate rooms with ten reformers each, plus an infrared-heated mat room and a space for private classes. That doesn’t sound all that big, though?
