I don’t know about you, but I’m already thinking about Thanksgiving foods, particularly pumpkin pie. November and pie are inextricably linked in my mind, but baking feels a lot more like work these days than it did in my teens.

Apparently, I’m not the only one who wants the holiday menu but doesn’t want to cook. According to one of the many Turkey Day-related PR emails I received last week, dining out is becoming increasingly popular with families looking to spend Thanksgiving outside the kitchen.

“With more families opting to dine out or order takeout every year,” the email read, “a restaurant Thanksgiving is quickly becoming one of the season’s most stress-free traditions.”

In honor of this trend, here’s what’s on the menu for a few spots around Fort Worth where you can eat out or preorder a holiday dinner for pickup.

Four-course dinner at 97 West Kitchen & Bar

Fort Worth’s Hotel Drover is offering a four-course special noon-8 p.m. Nov. 27 in its 97 West Kitchen & Bar. Diners each choose one of five mains, which include a “herb-crusted” roast turkey with sage gravy, Atlantic salmon cakes and a 70-ounce marinated baseball steak.

Sides include cranberry sauce, apple sausage stuffing and bread and butter. For dessert expect apple crumble and pecan and pumpkin pies with whipped cream. Desserts and sides will be served family style, according to the menu

Dining is $80 per person and $35 for children 5-12 years old. Kids 5 and under eat for free. Reservations are available through OpenTable.

Carry-out turkey dinners, sides and desserts from Bonnell’s Fine Texas Cuisine

If it’s takeout you’re after, The Turkey Deal at Bonnell’s Fine Texas Cuisine is $300 and features one smoked or fried turkey, two medium sides, a dessert, 12 dinner rolls and a quart of gravy, according to their social media post. The menu describes small sides as serving 4-6 people, medium serves 8-10 and large feeds 12-16. For $400, there’s The Leftover Deal, which doubles the rolls and gravy.

Roasted garlic mashed potatoes, green chile cheese grits, sweet potato casserole and Southwestern cornbread stuffing are some of the sides. Additional sides are $50 for small servings, $75 for medium and $100 for large, while additional desserts are $35 each. They have six sweet options ranging from bourbon buttermilk pie, pumpkin cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake.

Customers can add meat extras, as well. For example, grilled quail is also on the menu for another $20 each, whole beef tenderloin for $325, and extra deep fried or Creole smoked turkeys are $100 per bird.

Orders must be placed by midnight Nov. 19 with 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 26 pickup.

Spiral Diner isn’t the only spot in Cowtown preparing meatless and dairy-free courses. Scroll past the turkey, ham, lamb and beef on Whole Foods Market’s holiday preorder webpage and you’ll find vegetarian and vegan categories, with dishes such as mushroom and root vegetables en croute, roasted veggies and a grilled vegetable platter.
