It’s time for another sports-themed column! With the FIFA World Cup coming to town, restaurants around Tarrant County are gearing up for extra activity, including some special menus that should score points.
We’ve got a mix of high-end dining and casual locales this week. Sports bars arguably make the most sense when it comes to finding a spot to settle in to watch the games, but some non-pub options should be considered by those wanting something a bit extra.
FIFA celebration and watch party at Farina’s Winery & Cafe
Farina’s Winery & Cafe, the Italian restaurant in Historic Grapevine, is hosting a Dallas Futbol Celebration starting June 1 and a watch party for the first game June 11. June 1 sees the launch of specials available throughout the tournament, including a discounted signature spaghetti pizza you might choose to pair with frozen sangria or peach bellinis.
The watch party is a reservations-only event that runs 1-5 p.m. June 11, broadcasting the tournament’s first match, Mexico vs. South Africa. Guests can RSVP online.

Fish, chips and live sports at The Londoner
It should be no surprise that The Londoner, a British-style soccer pub, is pumped up for the World Cup, with daily live coverage throughout the competition and limited menus June 12, 17, 19, 23, 24, 25 and 27, coinciding with England and the USA’s matches. The pub has locations in Colleyville, Dallas, Addison and is coming soon to Arlington.
The World Cup limited menu shows appetizers of Scotch eggs, roasted nuts and barbecue or Buffalo wings, as well as salads, strawberries and cream, and mains of cottage pie, chicken, a Guinness cheesesteak and the house Tower of London burger.
The Colleyville location’s regular menu describes the Scotch eggs as hard-boiled, covered in pork sausage, breaded, fried and served with strawberry jalapeno jam. Other options include the Londoner cheese board, wings, fish and chips, chicken tikka masala, short rib pasta, and Texas pasties with Guinness-braised beef wrapped in puff pastry. Desserts are sticky toffee pudding and an Irish brownie with ice cream and candied pecans.

Special lunch and dinner hours at Mercury Chophouse
In honor of the tournament, Mercury Chophouse will have special hours 11 a.m.-8 p.m. June 14 and July 5 for lunch and dinner service, and 5-9 p.m. July 12 for dinner. World Cup matches will also be shown on TV at the bar.
The lunch menu starts off with surf and turf appetizers like filet mignon, meatballs, and Hill Country shrimp, while soups and salads range from a classic Caesar to a pear salad with dried cherries, candied pecans, goat cheese and champagne vinaigrette. Grilled salmon and skirt steak stroganoff appear among the mains while sandwiches come with either steak fries, salad or soup.
Dinner starters include wagyu beef and black truffle ravioli, calamari, crab cakes and a Gulf shrimp and crab ceviche. Lunch salad options are also shown on the dinner menu, with an additional Steaks & Chops section. The latter showcases a 7-ounce wagyu long bone ribeye, espresso-rubbed elk chops, bone-in beef short rib and center-cut filet mignon with herb butter.
Mercury Chophouse is a more formal restaurant, and their dress code is available online.

Specialty and nonalcoholic beers at Malone’s Pub
Malone’s Pub on Calhoun Street is described on its website as Fort Worth’s “neighborhood dive bar,” so casual is definitely the vibe at this Irish-style bar. Along with free street parking, pool and darts, Malone’s is showing the World Cup knockout rounds, semifinals, final and matches for the following countries: United States, England, Argentina, Japan, Brazil, Mexico and Germany.
The beer menu showcases many hops, from Guinness Pub Draught, Dos XX lager and Community Beer Co. Mosaic IPA to Guinness 0.0, Athletic Brewing and Heineken 0.0 nonalcoholic beers. Imported, domestic and craft beers are served as well, as are wines, ciders, seltzers and specialty beers like Weihenstephaner Hefe, Chimay Red Label and Kronenbourg 1664.
The pub snacks on offer are cheese and pepperoni pizzas, chips, beef jerky and nuts.
