Officials said this is the first time any Indian city has planned such a large-scale rollout of open gyms simultaneously. Equipped with modern fitness machines, the facilities will be free and accessible to all, with special benefits for children, women, and senior citizens, promoting healthier lifestyles and supporting the ‘Fit India Movement’.

So far, 30 gyms are already operational, with the remaining 70 to be completed soon. Leaders at the inauguration emphasised that the project not only boosts public health but also reflects Lucknow’s fast-paced growth. Deputy CM highlighted that initiatives like metro expansion and greener public spaces are shaping the capital into a modern, eco-friendly city. Mayor Sushma Kharkwal hailed it as a “historic moment”, while Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi said that Lucknow, long known for its culture and heritage, will now also stand out as a model of health and fitness.

With this move, Lucknow aims to balance tradition with progress, turning parks into hubs of both recreation and well-being.
