Heavy Hitters Gym is the brainchild of Oliver Pritchard and Steve Rickets, with the duo hoping to open in September.
The gym will be located at the old council yard in Mill Lane, Presteigne, which was sold by Powys County Council in 2022 for around £150,000.
News of the gym opening has appeared on the Knighton (Powys) Open Forum Facebook in recent weeks, with both Steve and Oliver posting details about the opening and what the gym will offer this month.
In a social media post titled ‘Heavy Hitters Gym – opening later this year in Presteigne’, the lads said the gym will be: “Your ultimate 24-hour hub for fitness, weightlifting, boxing and lifestyle – all under one roof.
“24/7 access – train any time, day or night. Heavy weights and strength equipment – for serious lifters.
“Fitness classes – all levels welcome. On-site barber – look sharp after your workout. Sunbed section – top up your tan. Boxing training – from fitness to fight-ready. Bodybuilding facilities.
“Strongman training – with local competitions. Chill-out zone – relax, refuel and recover.
“Local PTs – we want you. DM us to get involved. Located in the heart of Presteigne – the old council yard.”The new gym in Presteigne. (Image: Heavy Hitters Gym)
“We don’t have a fixed date as yet although we have been hoping for September 1 as the opening date,” said Oliver.
“The gym will be in Presteigne. It will be ran by myself and Steven Rickets. We plan to make the gym 24 hours and for every level of fitness and ability.”
The news has been greeted enthusiastically locally, with many locals feeling the border town is crying out for a dedicated gym and fitness facility.
Sarah Kuegler said: “How fantastic. Definitely a gap for this in Presteigne.”
Keep your eyes peeled for more definitive opening information and the possibility of Heavy Hitters Gym opening its own Facebook page.
