The star-studded comedy Sacramento has landed a new streaming home in the UK.

The movie follows two former best friends who reanimate their dwindling relationship on a road trip together.

Free-spirited Rickey suddenly visits his old pal Glenn and suggests a spontaneous adventure. Father-to-be Glenn reluctantly agrees to the trip and they embark on a chaotic journey from LA to Sacramento.

The buddy comedy stars Arrested Development’s Michael Cera as Glenn, with Twilight’s Kristen Stewart playing his pregnant partner Rosie. Mr & Mrs Smith’s Maya Erskine stars as Tallie, while writer-director Michael Angarano plays Rickey.

Sacramento was released in US cinemas earlier this year. As of yesterday, the movie is available to stream in the UK on Sky Cinema.

Following its initial debut at the Tribeca Film Festival, Sacramento landed a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, which has since dropped to a respectable 84% from 62 reviews.

Critics noted the balance between the comedic mishaps and emotional scenes, praising Cera and Angarano’s on-screen chemistry.

“Sacramento is an examination of strained friendships, the fear of inadequacy in impending fatherhood, and the importance of mental health conversations are handled with a good balance of care and humour,” wrote Deadline.

“This heartwarming indie proves the 2000s dramedy has grown up,” said CBR, while ScreenAnarchy echoed: Sacramento is a quintessential indie film … Genuinely funny and genuinely, authentically human.”

Pajiba added: “Angarano and Cera share a truly gorgeous chemistry… if you feel any emotional connection to these actors going into it there’s a good chance this movie will, in its small way, smash you apart and put you back together again.”

Sacramento is available to stream on Sky Cinema in the UK.
